Former Managing Director of Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) Company Limited, George Mensah Okley has been laid to rest at a ceremony over the weekend (August 8-9, 2020) in Accra.
Mr. Okley, 47 years passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020, at the 37 Military hospital after a short illness.
Okley was appointed in June 2018 as the Managing Director of BOST and resigned in August 2019. Under his leadership, BOST saw major corporate restructuring to ensure firm focus on the core mandate of trading petroleum products, holding national stock, storage infrastructure development and products’ distribution.
Chairman of CBOD Ivy Apea Owusu described George Mensah Okley as a genuine person and passionate energy professional. CBOD CEO touted his contribution to the industry saying, “he [Okley] was instrumental in repairing the relationship between BDCs and BOST. He always saw BDCs as his customers and key stakeholders in the success of his activities. So you would realise that during his tenure there was a lot more patronage of the BOST services than may have been observed before. He also did very well to make BOST a more transparent organization, a case in point, he tried to deal with the entire contaminated fuel saga which had been pending.”
The funeral service was graced by dignitaries including DeputyEnergy Minister responsible for petroleum Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Nii Mante Ayiku-We,Royal House of Nungua and CBOD CEO Senyo Hosi among others.
In her tribute to her late husband, Mrs. Okley quotes Romans 8:38-39 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
He is survived by his wife Betty Naa Adukwei Okley and their five (5) sons.
