The National Petroleum Authority has set up Industry Covid-19 Committee which is tasked with guiding downstream operations during and exploring ways to ensure the continuity of businesses in the petroleum downstream during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The committee seeks to identify industry risk areas, propose mitigating measures and assist with operating guidelines for businesses among others. The committee will also pool funds together to put in place effective Covid-19 response measures for players in the downstream including an isolation center for industry.
The committee is chaired by the Director of Inspection, Monitoring and HSSE at the NPA Esther Anku. It is comprised of representatives from the NPA, Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD), Bulk Distribution Companies, Depots, Association of Oil Marketing Companies (AOMCs) and Tanker Owners Association (TOA).
